5 Worship Music Recommendations

Updated: Aug 18

Music has always served as a way for me to express myself, and to let my deepest emotions out. I am on a journey of discovering myself spiritually through Christianity. So music has been a great part of me getting closer to God and seeking God’s presence. If you find yourself in a season of longing and seeking God’s presence, here are five worship songs that resonate with the heartfelt cry, God, We Need You Now.

God We Need You Now - Caitlynne Curtis and Struggle Jennings

The first song quite literally has these words in it “God, We Need You Now’ by Caitlynne Curtis and Struggle Jennings. These two created a song that makes me feel ready to let go of everything that I am feeling. The rhythm and the way their voices complement each other was very soothing. It presents a pain that Christians experience when they see what is going on in the world.

It talks about how everyone in the world is helping push this agenda of hate and it’s a call to action to go against the masses. This resonated with me on the level that if you keep following worldly individuals for answers you will be fed lies and manipulated to follow an ungodly agenda. I also feel this song is like an anthem to find other Christians ready to stand up for God and leave all the hateful, manipulative world behind you. If you do a lyric, by lyric analysis of this song, you will thoroughly be surprised.

Lyrics that I shout out Loud:

The world gettin' crazy, baby chill
Don't medicate, just meditate
You waking up now, well babe, you hella late
Educate, look at what's goin' on and let it resonate
Accelerate, find your inner hunger like you never ate
Agenda is to push the hate, separate and segregate
Don't celebrate quite yet, the storm is coming, cue for heaven's sake
Violence that they demonstrate instigate and penetrate
The values of our country and our God is what they desecrate
My fighters ain't no featherweight
Pullin' out the seams of the fabric that they fabricate
They feed us lies, manipulate
Intimidate through fear and force, forcin' us to sit and wait
'Til we come together, congregate and then we liberate
Prayin' that you give me strength to find some love amongst the hate
Marchin' on theses streets of blood 'til I see the golden gates
Troubadour of troubled souls, one of God's servants
Blades out, cut the grass 'til we see the serpents

oh, one day I hope you see the truth
This puppet show stays on because of you fools (ooh)
We've been dancin' with the devil way too long
I know it's fun but get ready to pay your dues (ooh)
Oh God, come back home
This crazy world is filled with liars and abusers (ooh)
We need you now before we're too far gone
I hope one day they finally see the truth (ooh)
God, we need you now (ooh)

Til The Day I Die - TobyMac

This song is centered around devotion and faith in God. In the song, TobyMac states that he can not stop, he cannot quit, and that his faith is in his heart. This is a depiction of a true Christian. It’s something that you don’t take a day off from. Your faith should be ingrained into everything that you are doing. He also shows pride in saying that he is a Christian. Many times we see people who worship God in church and then leave to live their lives not mentioning God until it’s time to go to church again. In the song, TobyMac mentioned how he will lift his banner high, and through anything he will serve god until the day he dies. That is something I aspire to be as a Christian.

Lyrics that I shout out Loud:

I'll keep swingin' for the fences It's like this heart is defenseless Against the passion that's pumpin' through my veins Blood, sweat, tears, it's a callin' And if I can't walk, then I'm crawlin' It might flicker, but they can't kill the flame

I can't stop, I can't quit It's in my heart, it's on my lips I can't stop, no, I can't quit It's in my heart, yeah, I'm all in

or

It's runnin' deeper than the ocean This ain't religion, it's devotion 3-6-5, every minute, every day So in the middle of the madness They can stretch me out like canvas But I ain't ever gonna fit in their frame

He's in the Room - Maverick City Music

Now this song, reminded me that even if I cannot see god it doesn’t mean he is not there. It mentioned stories in the Bible that every Christian should be aware of. Daniel and the Lions where he was sent to the Lion’s den for not worshiping another person other than God. Against the three Hebrew boys who were sent into the fire a fourth man was seen with him. It shows that it’s okay to set yourself apart from other people because your god has your back. Know that his will -- will be done because he’s in the room.

Lyrics that I shout out Loud:

I've got a treasure
Here in my heart
And in my weakness
It won't depart
I have a Savior who will abide
He's not just with me, He lives inside

So, go ask Daniel if
Our God will bring you out
And he will testify
He shuts the Lion's mouth
Go ask those Hebrew boys
If He'll stick by your side
They will identify
The fourth man in the fire
They'll tell you

Oh
He's in the room

Living Hope by Phil Wickham

I first heard this song in a church while I was Visiting family in Puerto Rico and I’ve been obsessed with it ever since. When I first heard it the melody and lyrics touched my soul and I can say spiritually I was feeling down, and this song gave me the pick-me-up I needed. Truly an amazing song.

Lyrics that I shout out Loud:

Hallelujah, praise the one who set me free
Hallelujah, death has lost its grip on me
You have broken every chain
There's salvation in your name
Jesus Christ, my living hope
Then came the morning that sealed the promise
Your buried body began to breathe
Out of the silence, the roaring lion
Declared the grave has no claim on me

Promises by Maverick City Music

Powerful vocals and tunes to show God’s promises through the word. This song not only talks about God’s Promises, but it talks about us as followers to make that promise to be steadfast in our commitment to follow God and Listen to his word. It also mentions God’s Faithfulness which is rarely mentioned. Everyone always says to be faithful to God or how Different Biblical figures were faithful to God. This Song mentions how he is always there for us and asks us to do the same for him.

Lyrics that I shout out Loud:

I put my faith in Jesus
My anchor to the ground
My hope and firm foundation
He'll never let me down, no
I put my faith in Jesus
